Timothy Smith Obituary - 2022 (2024)

Timothy Harold Smith was born on November 3, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was the son of Lawrence Wilford and Shirley Marie (Dietrich) Smith. Timothy moved to Monroe, Michigan when he was in elementary school and graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1976.

Timothy was an avid bowler and spent much of his adult life participating in several leagues – sometimes 3 at one time. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club, but he especially loved to fish whenever he could. In his free time, he enjoyed watching television and one could rarely enter his place without the channel being on one of the old classic reruns of Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith or MASH. As an overall sports enthusiast, Timothy would watch anything, but especially loved to cheer on his beloved Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines whenever they played. Above anything though, Timothy loved spending time with his son and his family. In fact, to show his support for them, he would often be seen sporting gear of the colleges his nieces and nephews attended, especially baseball hats, which he collected.

Timothy was a quiet person who never complained about anything and took life as it was handed to him with great patience and grace. He was friendly and welcoming to everyone, always had a smile on his face and never missed an opportunity to tease. Timothy was always generous with the little he had and although he was not a wealthy man, he would offer his last dollar to help someone in need. He was a kind man with a gentle, caring soul.

Timothy Smith, age 64, of Monroe, passed away at 1:55pm on Friday; January 7, 2022, at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe with his sister by his side while under the wonderful care of the staff who loved him like their own.
