From the first pad tests in hand, barring changes due to the next patches, the feeling is that the 41212 (2) will be the most used module in FIFA 23. It guarantees an offensive phase with 4-5 players thanks to the support of the two midfielders and the insertions of the CAM which often fill the spaces in the heart of the Box. Less effective and robust in the defensive phase as the two midfielders often accompany the strikers to ensure a discharge during the offensive phase.

As we have already written in the description of the module, it leaves a lot of space for opposing counter-attacks while it becomes lethal in the offensive phase. Modules with wings and attacking midfielders can be a real thorn in the side, especially if you don’t give your opponent time to bring the team back.

The 4231 is the module that has been the master for years, considered by all to be Over Power (OP) and which probably guarantees the best balance. In the offensive phase, you will have great variety and at the same time, a very compact defensive line thanks to the presence of two medians generally endowed with great dynamism.

How to defend yourself from 4231
A module that makes the opposing goal impregnable? No! A suffocating ball possession, widening the game on the flanks to try to widen the defensive line while waiting for an opening to be created for the decisive pass for the strikers will allow you to evade the defensive phase of this module. Furthermore, adopting a module with a central half in front of the defence will allow you to more easily contain the insertions of the opposing attacking midfielder.

The 4333 (4) is a valid alternative to the 4231 which guarantees greater coverage even in the wider areas of the green rectangle thanks to the presence of two pure wings. In the offensive phase, you can broaden the game more than in 4231 and get to the cross more easily. On paper, the defensive phase should also be more granitic.
